By Mindy Kaling & Brenda Withers
Was Performed August 31—September 10, 2006 At the Sarah & Abraham Wolfson Studio Theatre located in the JCC, 2 Millstone Campus Dr., Creve Coeur, MO 63146
The second production of the 2006 season was the new(ish) play Matt & Ben by Mindy Kaling & Brenda Withers. Matt & Ben looks at the friendship of Matt (Damon) and Ben (Affleck)— before J-Lo, before Gwyneth, before "Project Greenlight," before Oscar... before anyone actually gave a damn. Then, when the screen-play for Good Will Hunting mysteriously drops from the heavens, the boys realize they¹re being tested by a Higher Power. The show was named as "Best Overall Production" at the 2002 New York International Fringe Festival. TIME Magazine calls it one of the, “top five shows of the year!”, and the New York Post hails it as, “A hit! Acidic, funny, and affectionate!”. The show starred Kirsten Wylder and Kevin Kline Award Nominee Margeau Baue Steinau, and was directed by Robert Mitchell.
"...director Robert A. Mitchell demonstrates a sure feel for the play's accessible but surreal humor, which benefits mightily from the superb timing of [Margeau Baue] Steinau and [Kirsten] Wylder." "MATT& BEN is a laugh-out-loud triumph." -Calvin Wilson, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 9/3/2006 "Tour de force performances are given by both Margeau Baue Steinau as Matt and Kirsten Wylder as Ben." "...a cute, amusing, and entertaining piece..."
